Hire any editor, anywhere. Keep every drive.

Stringout is remote video editing software for post-production teams. It puts ready-to-cut HEVC proxies in each remote editor’s Finder or File Explorer, in your project’s bins, while the camera originals stay on your own storage. No shuttle drives. No re-uploading the archive.

The usual way compared with Stringout
JobThe usual wayWith Stringout
The courierThe usual way: Days in transit, a copy that is stale on arrival and a drive you may never see again. With Stringout: Share the project. The proxies show up in the editor’s Finder.
The cloud billThe usual way: Re-uploading terabytes you already own, then paying every month to keep them there. With Stringout: Only editing proxies are published. There is no second archive to pay for.
The screen shareThe usual way: Cutting through a laggy remote desktop while everyone pretends it is fine. With Stringout: The editor cuts in their own Premiere Pro, Resolve or Final Cut Pro.

Where does the remote editor find the footage? In your bins, in Finder, ready to cut.

A remote editor finds every shared clip in Finder or File Explorer, in the bins you built and under the camera’s clip names. They open it in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro and start cutting, with no drive to wait for, no download link and no “where’s that take?”

The illustration follows a Mac-to-Resolve handoff. Bins and proxy attachment work differently in Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.

Do the camera originals have to move? No. Only editing proxies leave your drives.

Stringout publishes an editing proxy of each shared clip, not the camera file. The originals stay on your RAID, NAS or shuttle drives, so there is no second archive to store and nothing to migrate. A teammate receives a camera original only when they request one for finishing.

What if your Mac goes offline? Published proxies keep the edit going.

Once a clip’s proxy is published, the remote editor keeps working while the source Mac sleeps, travels or leaves the building. The edit does not depend on your office machine staying awake, so a freelancer in another city works the same hours as the one down the hall.

Publishing needs the source Mac online. Editors need internet for clips they have not opened before.

Published editing media remains available after the source Mac disconnects, with a separate read-only File Explorer view.

Card to cut. Your whole post pipeline, in one app.

Most teams are still taping together a transcoder, a sync tool, a transfer service and a remote desktop. With Stringout, one project carries the footage from the copied cards to the editor’s timeline, on storage you already own, at one price per seat. Be the team that figured this out first.
